Ever wanted to hear the unauthorized version of the Lewis and Clark expedition? Listen to stories that have been passed down through generations of Indian tribes at the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition's commemoration of the Lewis and Clark bicentennial. The Aug. 15-16 gathering will examine the link between salmon, tribes and the expedition, and includes fireside readings of salmon stories from the Lewis and Clark journals and from the recollections of tribes who met them. The workshop also offers a tour of the Lower Granite Dam on the Snake River, and will feature speakers from the Yakama Nation, American Rivers and Idaho Rivers United.

The free event includes food, transportation to and from Spokane, and a night of camping at Washing-ton's Central Ferry State Park. To reserve a space in the Lewis and Clark Salmon Recovery Workshop, contact Lupito Flores at 509/747-5084 or [email protected] For details and a timeline of events, check out www.wildsalmon.org.
