Comments Policy

Thanks for your interest in commenting on NewTowncarShare News stories. We welcome your input. We have phased out the ability to comment on stories because we found that comments tended to polarize readers rather than create a space for open dialogue. But there are still plenty of ways to give us feedback on our coverage. We encourage you to send a letter to the editor at [email protected], contact the author of a story directly or reach out to us, and engage with other readers, through one of our social media channels.

For stories that are still open to commenting, we encourage you and other readers to share your thoughts and varying opinions. To encourage stimulating and civil discussions, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Use your real first and last names, and tell us your e-mail address when you sign up to comment. (We will not share your e-mail address; but we will use it to contact you in case we wish to reprint your comment in our print-magazine edition.)
  2. Comments should abide by the normal conventions of respectful conversation. In other words, talk to other commenters and moderators the way you would in person.
  3. Relate your comment to the HCN content.
  4. Comments may not contain personal attacks, racism, sexism, or hatred; may not use gratuitous profanity.
  5. Comments may not contain HTML.
  6. Comments must be less than 500 words.
  7. All comment moderation is subject to editorial discretion.

NewTowncarShare News reserves the right to delete comments that do not meet these guidelines. We are not able to screen comments before they are posted; if you feel a comment violates the above guidelines, please notify us at editor[at]hcn[dot]org.
